PLANTATION ALKMAAR
From 26 November to 19 March 2023, Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar presents the exhibition Plantage Alkmaar. Alkmaar in Suriname 1745-present. This highlights the Alkmaar past of slavery and specifically the story of the Alkmaar plantation in Suriname, a little-known and hardly researched theme from Alkmaar history. The exhibition will show a wide variety of objects, such as tools, crockery, archive documents, maps and works of art. Very special is a series of watercolor drawings of plantation Alkmaar and surroundings, made in the period 1811-1816 and never before exhibited in the Netherlands.

Atelier Argos designed the exhibition and also most of the graphic expressions such as invitation, poster, flyer, promotional animation, the facade and all texts and banners in the exhibition.

PLANTAGE ALKMAAR
Alkmaar in Suriname 1745-heden.
