(NL) Folding Staples is een visueel onderzoek naar structuur, spanning en het residu van handeling. Gevouwen papier, gefixeerd met nietjes: minimale ingrepen die vorm genereren. Wat tijdelijk en functioneel is, wordt drager van ritme en patroon. De nietjes markeren punten van fixatie — kleine beslissingen die het geheel structureren.
Door vouwen, herhalen en variëren ontstaan reliëfs tussen tekening en object. Tijd manifesteert zich in kreukels, perforaties en spanning in het oppervlak. Wat een handeling was, wordt systeem; wat fixatie was, wordt compositie.
Binnen GIS/WIS is Folding Staples een residueel archief van gebaar en structuur.
Deze pagina toont dat proces in zijn meest beperkte vorm: enkel een fotoframe en het schutblad dat erin zat. Door te vouwen, nieten, ontvouwen en gladstrijken wordt het frame geen drager meer, maar onderdeel van het werk zelf.
(EN) Folding Staples is a visual investigation into structure, tension, and the residue of action. Folded paper, fixed with staples: minimal interventions that generate form. What is temporary and functional becomes a carrier of rhythm and pattern. The staples mark points of fixation — small decisions that structure the whole.
Through folding, repeating, and varying, reliefs emerge between drawing and object. Time manifests in creases, perforations, and tension in the surface. What was an act becomes a system; what was fixation becomes composition.
Within GIS/WIS, Folding Staples is a residual archive of gesture and structure.
This page shows that process in its most limited form: only a photo frame and the endpaper it contained. Through folding, stapling, unfolding, and ironing, the frame stops being a support and becomes part of the work itself.
