Shop Climate is een visueel onderzoek naar consumptie, ritme en ecologische impact. Het project registreert herhaalde momenten van gebruik — identieke stapels winkelmandjes vastgelegd in de tijd. Wat alledaags lijkt, onthult patronen van stilstand en beweging, van accumulatie en inertie. Kleur functioneert als drager van tijd: elke stapeling vormt een chromatisch spoor van consumptie. Tijd ontvouwt zich als cyclus — een herhaling van handeling zonder zichtbaar einde. De data wordt niet geïnterpreteerd maar gemeten; het beeld ontstaat uit registratie. In dialoog met de logica van “I shop therefore I am” verschuift de betekenis: consumptie wordt collectief gedrag met ecologische consequenties. Binnen GIS/WIS vormt Shop Climate een klimaatgeheugen waarin massa spreekt.

Shop Climate is a visual investigation into consumption, rhythm, and ecological impact. The project records repeated moments of use — identical stacks of shopping baskets captured over time. What appears ordinary reveals patterns of stillness and movement, of accumulation and inertia. Colour functions as a carrier of time: each stack forms a chromatic trace of consumption. Time unfolds as a cycle — a repetition of action without visible end. The data is not interpreted but measured; the image emerges through registration. In dialogue with the logic of “I shop therefore I am,” meaning shifts: consumption becomes collective behaviour with ecological consequences. Within GIS/WIS, Shop Climate forms a climate memory in which the mass speaks.
