(NL) Universal Coffee is een visueel onderzoek naar consumptie, residu en historische sporen. Het project vertrekt vanuit leeggedronken kopjes, waarin koffie achterblijft als sediment, kring en vlek. Deze restbeelden markeren een overgang van handeling naar afwezigheid, van drank naar document.
Tijd wordt niet lineair benaderd, maar als een gelaagde structuur waarin persoonlijke rituelen verbonden zijn met mondiale geschiedenis. Elk beeld wordt gelezen als een archief van gebruik, waarin het alledaagse de echo draagt van systemen van arbeid, handel en extractie. De data wordt niet geïnterpreteerd maar vastgelegd; betekenis ontstaat door accumulatie en herhaling. Het kopje fungeert als kader, het residu als kaart van tijd.
Binnen GIS/WIS functioneert het werk als een archief van consumptieve tijd, waarin sporen zichtbaar maken wat doorgaans wordt vergeten.

(EN) Universal Coffee is a visual investigation into consumption, residue, and historical traces. The project originates in emptied cups, where coffee remains as sediment, stain, and ring. These residual images mark a transition from action to absence, from drink to document.
Time is not approached linearly, but as a layered structure in which personal rituals connect to global histories. Each image is read as an archive of use, where the everyday carries the echo of systems of labour, trade, and extraction. The data is not interpreted but recorded; meaning emerges through accumulation and repetition. The cup becomes a frame, the residue a map of time.
Within GIS/WIS, the work functions as an archive of consumptive time, where traces render visible what is usually forgotten.
